Bamidbar (In the Desert)

rbdmb (In the Wilderness) Sivan  2 5770   May 15  2010 Bamidbar (Num) 1:1-4:20

Bamidbar begins our journey with G-d in the wilderness; it is literally boot camp before entering the Promised Land.  G-d is a G-d of order and he begins with an organizational sketch of the 12 tribes and their gerim. He maps out the charter for how Israel will function in the future.

Behar Bechukkotai (On Mount- By my regulations)

May 8 2010  24 Iyyar dk  5770 Vayikra (Lev) 25:1-27:34

As much as G-d loves us, there are consequences for our disobedience.  He is the G-d of all creation but since He is the one who has chosen us, fairness does not apply when it comes to how we think we are being treated. Acharei Mot Kedoshim (After the death-Holy People)

oysdq - ydxa  April 24 2010 10 Iyar 5770

In Acharei mot our Messiah Yeshua is represented by the two goats spoken of; the first of which was selected to be the "ola chatat" or the "burnt offering for sin". The second goat was the scapegoat, the one upon which the sins of the entire nation of Israel was placed  and which was subsequently sent out into the desert. This to me is a clear picture of what Yeshua did for his people Israel.

This double Shabbat is the end of Sukkoth—Shemini Atzeret, Hoshana Rabah and Simchat Torah all together in one great festival. It is filled with meaning and yet we know so little about it. Today we celebrate the 8th day of Sukkoth, Shemini Atzeret. It is an extra added to the 7 day festival of Sukkoth and the rabbis do not know what the meaning is of this extra day.
